Won a silver medal with Team USA at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Made an appearance in all six games for the red, white, and blue, starting three games in the outfield. He came on as a defensive sub in the bottom of the ninth inning against Korea and made a spectacular grab at third base to end the game and secure the U.S. 4-2 victory. Lopez came on as a defensive substitute in centerfield against Japan in the fourth inning, later picked up his first two hits of the Olympic Games against Korea in the semifinals–tallying the game’s opening run with an RBI-single in the bottom of the second inning. He got his second RBI of the semis against Korea in a five-run sixth inning that pushed the U.S. into the gold medal game. Got the start in centerfield in the gold medal game against Japan.
