General: Nick Martinez was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 18th round of the 2011 MLB Draft out of Fordham University. His major-league career has spanned four seasons, all with Texas. He most recently pitched in MLB in 2017.
MLB: Martinez made his MLB debut in 2014, allowing three earned runs in six innings against Tampa Bay. He made 24 starts for the Rangers that season, posting a 5-12 record and a 4.55 ERA in 24 starts. Martinez had his best major-league season in 2015, going 7-8 with a 3.96 ERA in 21 starts. He pitched two more seasons in Texas in 2016 and 2017, accumulating a 5-11 record in 23 starts over those two seasons.
MiLB: Martinez has made 87 career starts in the minor leagues, going 35-24 with a 3.28 ERA in 510.2 innings pitched. His first professional season came in 2011, where he made 11 starts and had a 2.30 ERA. Martinez most recently appeared in the minors in 2017, going 4-0 with a 2.15 ERA for the Frisco RoughRiders in the Rangers’ organization.
NPB: Martinez has been pitching in Nippon Professional Baseball since 2018. He made his NPB debut and pitched his first two seasons in Japan with the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters, going 10-11 with a 3.51 ERA in 2018. Martinez signed with the Fukoka SoftBank Hawks prior to the 2021 season, where he currently owns a 7-2 record with a 2.03 ERA.
Amateur: Martinez played for three seasons at Fordham University, primarily as a second baseman. He batted .295 with four homers and 66 RBI in three seasons, also making 15 appearances as a relief pitcher. On the mound, Martinez went 1-3 with a 5.33 ERA in two seasons.
