General: Ryder Ryan was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 30th round of the 2016 MLB Draft out of the University of North Carolina. He has spent five seasons in the minor leagues with three different organizations, currently pitching for the Texas Rangers’ Triple-A affiliate, Round Rock Express.
MiLB: Ryan has pitched in 142 minor-league games, owning an 11-12 record with a 3.82 ERA. Ryan’s first minor-league season was in 2016, when he pitched in 15 games in the Arizona League (now known as Arizona Complex League) for Cleveland’s rookie-league affiliate. In 2017, Ryan was traded to the New York Mets in exchange for Jay Bruce. Ryan pitched from 2017-19 in the Mets’ organization, with his best statistical season coming in 2019. That season, Ryan posted a 3-1 record with a 3.05 ERA, striking out 40 batters in 44.1 innings pitched. In 2020, Ryan was traded to the Texas Rangers and assigned to the Round Rock Express, where he currently owns a 1-4 record with a 6.17 ERA in 21 games in 2021. Ryan has 30 strikeouts in 23.1 innings pitched.
Amateur: Primarily a third baseman in college, Ryan only pitched in one game at the University of North Carolina. Entering college, Ryan was ranked the No. 1 third baseman and the No. 3 player overall in North Carolina.
