2026 Collegiate National Team Training Camp Roster Announced

Nation’s top college players to compete in exhibition slate and Stars vs. Stripes series

CARY, N.C. – USA Baseball today announced the roster for the 2026 Collegiate National Team Training Camp that will compete in a slate of exhibition games and the program’s annual Stars vs. Stripes series, which will be held June 27 to July 4 at various locations across North Carolina and Virginia.

The summer schedule will kick off with three days of exhibition doubleheaders for a combined six games between June 27-29 in Burlington and Cary, North Carolina, and Danville, Virginia. Following the three days of exhibition games, the annual Stars vs. Stripes series will begin June 30 at Segra Stadium in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The next three games will be held at the National Training Complex in Cary from July 1-3, and the series will return to Segra Stadium July 4 for the finale. The Collegiate National Team, which will be named on July 5 following the conclusion of Training Camp, will then compete in the inaugural World Collegiate Baseball Championship at Taichung City Intercontinental Baseball Stadium in Taichung City, Taiwan, from July 11-15.

“The collection of talent on this year’s Training Camp roster is incredible,” said Eric Campbell, USA Baseball’s General Manager of Professional and Collegiate National Teams. “The Collegiate National Team Training Camp consistently delivers elite, high-level baseball with a chance to represent our country on the line. We are excited to watch these athletes compete with one another this week in Cary as we prepare to participate in the inaugural World Collegiate Baseball Championship next month.”

Nine USA Baseball alumni appear on this year’s Training Camp roster, which features primarily non-draft-eligible players from across college baseball. The group is highlighted by 2024 18U alumni Ethin Bingaman (Auburn), Trent Grindlinger (Tennessee), Brayden Jaksa (Oregon), Nico Partida (Texas A&M), and Aiden Stillman (Vanderbilt), who helped Team USA win a gold medal at the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) U-18 Baseball World Cup Americas Qualifier. Ryan McPherson (Mississippi State), who played on last year’s Collegiate National Team, and Zach Strickland (UCLA) will reunite after playing together on the 2021 15U National Team. Along with McPherson, Xander Mercurius (Oklahoma) will look to make his third national team roster after playing on the 2019 12U National Team and 2022 15U squad that won gold at the WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup. Rounding out the group of Team USA alumni returning to Cary is 2024 Collegiate National Team alum Pablo Torres (Bethune-Cookman).

Overall, 29 schools and seven conferences are represented on the 2026 Training Camp roster. Mississippi State leads all schools with four players each on the roster, while Auburn, Florida, Oregon, Southern Miss, UCLA, Wake Forest, and Vanderbilt follow with three each. The Southeastern Conference (SEC) boasts 24 athletes on the roster to lead all conferences, followed by the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and the Big Ten with eight each.

The 2026 Stars Team at Training Camp and Collegiate National Team will be led by manager Dan Hartleb. He will be joined by Matt Hobbs (pitching coach), Jonathan Hernandez (assistant coach), Tracy Smith (assistant coach), Tom Walter (assistant coach), and Carlos Muñoz (bullpen coach). Rick Eckstein will manage the Stripes Team and will be joined by Kirk Champion (pitching coach), Rick Ankiel (assistant coach), David Eckstein (assistant coach), Davin Pierre (assistant coach), and Joe McGowan (bullpen coach). Additionally, Mike Scioscia will join this year’s staff in an advisor role, using his experience to provide guidance to the coaching staff on many different aspects of the program.
