Day three of 12U National Team Training Camp featured the second game of the Stars vs. Stripes Series—a series of intrasquad scrimmages serving to aid player development and the Task Force in evaluating the 36-player roster ahead of Friday’s roster announcement for the 12U National Team.
Yesterday's action saw a combined 14 hits and a total of 16 runs scored, with a final score of 9-7. The Stars took game one of the series. Today’s game was quite the opposite in scoring aspects, with three runs combined from great pitching performances all around between both teams.
After Team Stars put two runners on in the second, Barrett Schell drove in the first run of the game with an RBI groundout to give a 1-0 lead for Stars.
In the fourth, Team Stripes had baserunners on after back-to-back singles from Andrew Lopez and Kayden Paysinger. Paysinger later tied the game at 1-1 on a passed ball.
Following a leadoff single and a stolen base of second from Kristian Valadez in the sixth inning, Nolan Hatch ripped a double to left field to score pinch-runner Ethan Wagner from second base, giving Stripes a 2-1 lead.
Players at the 12U National Team Training Camp will be back in action tomorrow for game three of the Stars vs. Stripes Series.
