Roster Revealed for 2025 Women's National Team Development Program

Event to be held October 15-19 at National Training Complex

CARY, N.C. – USA Baseball today announced the roster for the 2025 Women’s National Team Development Program (WNTDP), which will be held October 15-19 at the National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina.

The WNTDP roster features 18 Women’s National Team alumni, and 16 of them were a part of both squads that went undefeated at the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Women’s Baseball World Cup Group Stage in 2023 and finished with a silver medal at the Finals in 2024. Several players on the roster own a wealth of national team experience, as 15 of them have played on two or more past national teams. The experience on the roster is highlighted by 12-time alum Anna Kimbrell, who owns the Team USA record for most appearances on a national team, nine-time alums Meggie Meidlinger and Kelsie Whitmore, and five-time alums Alex Hugo, Kylee Lahners and Ashton Lansdell.

Along with the national team alumni coming to WNTDP, nine other players have participated in a past development program or have been invited to a Women’s National Team Training Camp. Additionally, 36 players on the roster have attended a past girls’ development event jointly hosted in partnership with Major League Baseball including the Trailblazer Series, Elite Development Invitational (EDI), Breakthrough Series, and MLB GRIT: Girls ID Tour.

“This is an exciting time for our program with bringing the Women’s National Team Development Program back for the first time since 2021. We are looking forward to bringing together 40 of the top female baseball players in the country as we prepare for another World Cup run in 2026,” said Women’s National Team Program Director Makenzie Kelly. “We expect that this year’s event will provide a competitive environment for these players where they can develop their skills, and that it will leave a lasting impact on their playing careers.”

This year’s WNTDP will feature a 40-woman roster split into two teams. The event will include five days of intrasquad games and positional workouts, skill development sessions, off-field educational seminars, and exposure to USA Baseball staff and coaches from the organization’s national team programs. Additionally, Baseball Canada’s Women’s National Team will compile a roster to bring to Cary to make this year’s WNTDP a joint event, and the two nations will have an opportunity to play each other at various points to provide an international competition aspect to the week.

The event will serve as a key component in the ongoing identification and preparation of future Women’s National Team programming in 2026 and 2027, and it will allow USA Baseball and the WNTDP coaching staff to assess and evaluate players throughout the five days.

The coaching staff for the 2025 WNTDP is highlighted by three Women’s National Team alumni, a Hall of Famer, a 2000 Olympic gold medalist, and four national team coaches who have been on a combined 24 staffs and secured 14 total gold medals in international competition.
