The quarterfinals gave us plenty to talk about as we move towards the final day of 15U Champs NC

ZT National Prospects 13, Canes National 0

With elite offensive production and a no-hitter, the ZT National Prospects were able to cruise their way into the semifinals with a 13-0 victory. In a four-inning game via mercy rule, ZT National Prospects scored two runs or more in each frame. The fifth inning was highlighted by a Carter Nash RBI double. ZT National Prospects used four hits, along with three walks, to account for its five runs in the inning. Cote Tullos dominated on the mound for ZT, going four hitless frames and picking up four strikeouts in the effort, leading to a commanding win.

SBA Bolts National 7, FTB Phillies 3

SBA Bolts National used a late rally to dismount FTB Phillies and advance into the semifinals. Outhitting FTB 10-to-7, SBA got off to a hot start, scoring two runs across the first three frames. FTB Phillies struck back in the top of the fourth with two runs of their own, a sac-fly from Kingston George and an RBI double from Zaylon Johnson, knotting the game at two. SBA responded instantly in the bottom half of the fourth, Adriel Cartagena smacked an RBI triple to give SBA a 3-2 lead. Another quick response saw FTB score on a defensive miscue by the catcher, tying the game at three. SBA took full advantage of the bottom half of the fifth, scoring four runs that were highlighted by an inside-the-park home run by Nathan Malone that scored three of the four. The lead would hold on till the end, and SBA took home a 7-3 victory.

USA Prime National 9, Texas Twelve Red Sox 3

USA Prime National jumped out to an early lead and never relinquished it, earning a 9-3 win over the Texas Twelve Red Sox. USA Prime National was aggressive at the plate, amassing 12 hits in the contest, leading to the six-run win. USA Prime’s runs came in bunches late in the contest, as six of their nine runs came across the final three frames of the game. USA Prime National totaled three RBI singles and an RBI double over that span. A combined effort from Tristan Blalock and Greyson Garza gave USA Prime seven innings of two-hit baseball and a combined five strikeouts to seal the deal.

PRD 3, CBA/Orioles Scout Team 0

A stellar pitching performance for PRD saw Mateo Mier take complete control of the game and wouldn’t let go until Macade Carey took over for the final two frames. Going five innings of three-hit baseball, Mier went on to strike out 10 batters in his start, followed by Carey going two innings of one-hit ball, striking out three. Scoring all three runs in the top of the seventh frame, PRD used an RBI groundout from Larson Accardo and a two-RBI single from Romeo De La Torre to earn their 3-0 win.
