CARY, N.C. - All nine players in the Stars starting lineup recorded a hit in Tuesday's 21-1 win over Stripes at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina. The game marked the first of the USA Baseball 15U National Tram Trials Phase II.
Nolan Schubart started off the scoring for the Stars with a solo shot off the right field foul pole in the top of the second.
"I didn't really feel it [off the bat]. I thought it had a chance of going foul because it had a bit of a hook, but it stayed fair and it felt really good.
"Not only with my approach at the plate, but defensively I felt like I did a pretty good job of helping my teammates to the best of my capabilities and giving my team the best chance to win," said Schubart.
Schubart finished the day 3-for-4 at the plate with four RBIs and three runs scored. His three-hit day was matched by teammates Mikey Romero, Termarr Johnson, Aidan Miller and Steven Milam. In total, the Stars recorded 21 hits in the contest and scored five runs in three separate innings.
The Stars utilized four different pitchers in the game, including starting pitcher Trenton Shaw, Logan Saloman, Ethan McElvain and Demitri Diamant. The group combined to allow just one run on two hits. Shaw (1-0) earned the win while Ethan Robinson (0-1) was the losing pitcher.
