Players who have previously donned the stars and stripes are making impacts at every level, from high school to the pros. WEEK OF MAY 11
College/Prep
- Having a huge week for the Texas Longhorns, Casey Borba (2022 18U) homered in back-to-back games, helping the Longhorns get the sweep over the Missouri Tigers. The junior infielder recorded four RBIs in the series and back-to-back multi-hit games, solidifying his solid week.
- On the same day he was named a Golden Spikes Award Semifinalist, Gavin Grahovac (2017 12U, 2022 18U, 2024 CNT) smacked his 18th home run of the season for Texas A&M against Mississippi State on Thursday. The first baseman then hit his 19th on Friday to push his homer total in conference play to an SEC-leading 13.
- Helping the Yellow Jackets to their 11th ACC regular season title, Vahn Lackey (2025 CNT) went 10-for-15 against Boston College with three doubles, two home runs and a triple. The junior catcher drove in 12 runs in four games while scoring 10 runs, finishing the regular season on an 11-game hitting streak. Following his performance, Lackey was named the ACC Player of the Week.
- LSU’s Steven Milam (2016 12U, 2019 15U) remained hot for the Tigers, hitting a home run in all three games of a home series against Florida. The switch-hitting shortstop went 6-for-12 with eight RBI in the series to raise his OPS to a career-high .932.
- Liam Peterson (2024 & 2025 CNT) earned his first-career, complete-game victory to clinch the series against LSU for the Florida Gators. Peterson went all seven innings, throwing 95 pitches with just three hits and one walk. His 11 strikeouts were just one shy of his season high. The junior held the Tigers to a .125 batting average and was named the SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week.
Professional
- With a .303 average and .902 OPS, Kemp Alderman (2014 12U) is knocking on the big-league door with Triple-A Jacksonville. After a four-hit performance on Thursday at Memphis, Alderman hit two bombs against the Redbirds on Sunday. The outfielder leads the Jumbo Shrimp with 46 hits and nine homers on the season.
- Putting up massive numbers, Alex Bregman (2011 18U, 2013 & 2014 CNT, 2017 & 2026 WBC) is on an eight-game hit streak, going 10-for-26 this week with a slash line of .385/.429/.538 over the Cubs' last six games. Tallying a solo homer against Atlanta, he carries a .967 OPS in his last six games. Bregman looks to continue his impressive performances in an NL Central showdown against the Milwaukee Brewers.
- Leading the Texas Rangers to an 8-0 victory over the Houston Astros, Jake Burger (2016 CNT) went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, two runs scored and tied a career high four RBI. The first baseman sent his eighth home run of the season 356 feet to put the Rangers up two before doubling to make it 4-0. With a final score of 8-0, Burger helped the Rangers avert a three-game series sweep.
- Corbin Carroll (2018 18U) dominated for the Diamondbacks, tallying two multi-hit games, including a multi-homer performance on May 17th. Carroll went 5-for-12 in the series, with four RBIs and five runs scored to help the Diamondbacks win the series over the Colorado Rockies. Ending the series, Carroll currently holds a six-game hit streak, heading into the series against the San Francisco Giants.
- Seattle Mariners top prospect Colt Emerson (2017 12U, 2022 18U) made his MLB debut on Sunday, earning a walk and scoring a run against the San Diego Padres. The 20-year-old shortstop became the youngest Mariner to debut since Félix Hernández in 2005.
- Brady House (2015 12U, 2018 15U) went 2-for-2 with a two-run homer and an RBI double in the Nationals 13-3 victory over the Orioles in game two of the series. House also knocked a 393-foot shot in the Nats 10-4 game one victory over the Reds earlier in the week.
- Mickey Moniak (2013 15U, 2015 18U) celebrated his 28th birthday by going 3-for-5 with five RBIs and one run scored in the Rockies 10-4 victory over the Pirates. His first hit of the day, a 372-foot dinger to right field in the fifth, tacked on three of Colorado’s six runs of the inning. In his next plate appearance, the birthday boy doubled to right and finished the day with a two-run triple in the ninth. This marks the second time Moniak has homered on his birthday.
- In his fourth game back from a rehab assignment, Anthony Volpe (2013 12U, 2016 15U, 2018 18U) went 2-for-3 with two walks in the Subway Series finale against the Mets. After hitting a double in the second, Volpe notched a two-RBI single in the sixth inning and scored a run himself.
