
CARY, N.C. – Day three of the 14U NTIS Champions Cup is complete. Six games were contested to wrap up the pool play portion of the event, and the day was highlighted by dominant outings on the mound and big offensive performances. Read up on the top moments from Cary.
RASMUSSEN RECORDS PERFECT OUTING AT PLATE
Southwest Stars’ Griffin Rasmussen showed out in his team’s 7-3 win over the Northeast Stripes, going a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with three singles. He recorded an RBI and scored a run in his outing, and managed to pitch two-thirds of an inning in the contest in shutout fashion.
RAUSCH, PURKISS DOMINATE IN RELIEF
South Stripes relievers Easton Rausch and Cayde Purkiss dominated on the mound out of the bullpen, helping to hold off the Northwest Stars in a 5-4 win. Rausch threw 3.2 shutout innings and fanned six batters, while Purkiss tallied five strikeouts in 3.0 innings of work.
SOUTHEAST STRIPES RECORD DOUBLE-DIGIT RUNS, AGAIN
The Southeast Stripes recorded double-digit runs for the third straight game at the NTIS Champions Cup, securing a 12-1 win over the Midwest Stripes after defeating the South Stars 17-2 on Thursday and earning a 12-1 victory over the Northeast Stars on Friday. The squad has outscored its opponents 41-4 across its three pool play games.
OSTER TOSSES A GEM
Theodore Oster III tossed a gem for the Southeast Stars in its 10-1 victory over the Northwest Stripes. He went 6.2 innings and surrendered an unearned run on four hits and struck out a game-high eight batters.
FOUR FROM SOUTH STARS RECORD TWO-HIT OUTINGS
Four players from the South Stars – Cameron Brown, Parks Elliott, Marcos Thompson, Austin Percival – all recorded two-hit outings in the team’s 9-3 win. The four of them were responsible for eight of the team’s 15 hits and six of the team’s nine runs.
