PHOENIX — Dean Hannah provided a go-ahead, two-run single to cap a dramatic, 11-10 win for USA Prime National against Saddleback Cowboys Black in the gold-medal game of the 14U National Team Championships on Wednesday at Peoria Sports Complex.

Hannah, who posted a .455 clip at the plate and a team-high nine RBI throughout the tournament, delivered the defining moment in the top of the seventh with USA Prime National trailing by a run. It marked the second heroic hit for Hannah in the 14U playoffs after the 5-foot-11 backstop uncorked a three-run triple to put his team ahead in the seventh inning of its Round of 16 game against Canes West Black.

The gold medal marks USA Prime National's first at any age group at the National Team Championships.

The first-place finish did not come without adversity, however. Saddleback Cowboys Black put up five runs on six hits in the opening frame, which included three straight base knocks from Luke Blanchard (single), Carter Enoch (RBI-double) and Hayden George (single) to begin the game.

USA Prime National responded in quick fashion, however, with three runs in the top half of the second. Camden Clewett, Myles Mayse and Cru Huenfeld all doubled home runs in spark the comeback.

Sean Gamble's sacrifice fly in the third cut the deficit to one run for USA Prime National.

Jeffrey Wulff's RBI-single through the right side brought Saddleback's lead back to two in the bottom half of the frame, but USA Prime National fought back, once more, with a run-scoring groundout courtesy of Ty Hawkins.

USA Prime National took its first lead of the game just one inning later when Clewett and Travis Friend pushed a pair of runs across with a single apiece.

Lawsom Olmstead's fifth-inning single up the middle put Saddleback on the comeback trail and the Cowboys put three more runs on the board to take a 10-8 lead in the sixth.

However, USA Prime National, which reached double-digits in the run column in four separate games throughout the tournament, did so again in a clutch situation. Sean Gamble, who also earned the win in relief, made it a one-run game with a single to right, and Hannah's heroics put USA Prime National ahead for good.

Saddleback put the potential tying run on base in the seventh when Luke Anderson singled with two outs, but Landon Schaefer speared a sharp liner at third to seal the win and the gold medal for USA Prime National.

The first-place finish marks USA Prime's first-ever gold at the National Team Championships Arizona.

Saddleback Cowboys secured their third medal at the event across all age groups.

Chino Hills Thunder took home the bronze medal with an 8-0 win in five innings against San Diego Show.
