Athlete Safety: BASE Organizational Compliance

In 2017 the Senate passed bill 534 which protects athletes from predators within their sport. As a result, there are new policies youth organizations must follow to ensure minor athlete well-being is at the forefront of every sport. These policies include a standard background check along with education and training. As a result of this movement, USA Baseball launched BASE (Baseball Athlete Safety Education) as its zero-tolerance campaign for any type of abuse within the sport of baseball. Organizations can utilize USA Baseball’s services to provide training to their coaches and protect their athletes by becoming part of the BASE Organizational Compliance program and being compliant with the law.

Provides resources to create a positive and safe environment for all athletes, coaches, parents, umpires and spectators.
Topics covered include how to identify misconduct, report incidents and what abuse prevention policies should be in place.

USA Baseball’s BASE Organizational Compliance program provides background checks and abuse prevention training to coaches. Administrators can track completions and export a list of their staffs' compliance with the User Directory.
