BOCA CHICA, Dominican Republic – USA Baseball’s 18U National Team is set to defend its title at the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Americas U-18 Baseball Pan-American Championship from October 22-29 in the Dominican Republic. Fresh off capturing its 11th World Cup title in program history last summer, Team USA will look to secure its third consecutive gold medal and a bid for the 2027 WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup.
A GOLDEN HISTORY
The 18U National Team has a storied history of success on the international stage and is once again pursuing gold. The program is in pursuit of its third straight gold medal and 19th gold medal in international competition. The U.S. has also won gold in all seven Pan-American Championship/World Cup Americas Qualifier tournaments it has competed in since 2009.
Dating back to 2007, Team USA owns a 58-1 record in 59 games at the event, with its lone loss coming against Mexico in a 2-1 defeat in 2016. Since then, the U.S. has captured four consecutive gold medals at the tournament, including three championship victories against Panama, and enters 2026 riding a 26-game winning streak.
In its most recent appearance in 2024, the 18U National Team posted an 8-0 record in Panama to qualify for the following year’s World Cup. In Panama, the squad outscored opponents 58-9 and fired four shutouts.
The 18U National Team flaunts an excellent history of boasting elite talent and high-caliber athletes. Just last year, nine program alumni heard their name called in the first round of the 2026 MLB Draft, including the second overall pick Grady Emerson, Jared Grindlinger, Jacob Lombard, Gio Rojas, Coleman Borthwick, and Carson Bolemon, who were all selected in the first round. Additionally, Eli Willits from the 2024 squad that last competed in the World Cup Americas Qualifier, was selected first overall in the 2025 MLB Draft.
