2025 WBSC U-15 Pan American Championship Preview

The 15U National Team is set to begin play in the 2025 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) U-15 Pan American Championship in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico. From September 13-18, the stars and stripes will compete against four other nations for gold and a spot in next year’s U-15 Baseball World Cup.

THE PAST

Since its inception in 2012, USA Baseball’s 15U National Team owns an elite history of success throughout international competition. The program owns six gold medals, with its earliest dating back to 2013 at the COPABE Pan Am “AA” Championships and its most recent at the 2022 V WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup held in Mexico. Alongside the medal count, the 15U program has excelled in producing Major League talent, as it saw seven former players selected in the 2025 MLB Draft, including fourth overall pick Ethan Holliday and fellow first rounder Brady Ebel.

In international competition, the 15U National Team is currently on a fourteen-game win streak dating back to a 6-5 victory over Panama at the 2022 WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup.

THE FIELD

The 2025 WBSC U-15 Pan American Championship divides nations into three separate tournaments held by three sub-confederations: CONSUBE, COCABE, and CONCEBE. Each sub-confederation allocates one spot to compete in next year’s World Cup. Additionally, two more spots will be determined via wildcards to round out the five spots allocated for the Americas.

The stars and stripes are set to compete in the CONCEBE sub-confederation where the 15U program will compete against Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama, and event host Mexico. According to the WBSC, three nations in the CONCEBE sub-confederation are ranked in the top-10 amongst all nations: No. 3 USA, No. 5 Mexico, and No. 9 Panama.

The 15U program owns a 77-8 overall international record and has won its last 14 games against foreign opponents. Amongst nations in the CONCEBE sub-confederation, Team USA has compiled a 18-1 overall record with its latest win occurring in 2022 against Panama.

THE VENUE

Team USA traveled nearly 2,000 miles to the border city of Ciudad Juárez, where the team is set to start international competition on September 13 against Panama at Estadio Juárez Vive. Estadio Juárez Vive, home of the 2025 WBSC U-15 Pan American Championship, seats 12,000 spectators and serves as a key location for a variety of events in the city, including baseball games and concerts. The construction of the stadium is widely regarded as a symbol of rejuvenation within the border city, making the venue a significant historic site in the region.

THE ROSTER

The 2025 15U National Team features a 20-player roster that boasts five USA Baseball alumni and 12 athletes who have prior involvement with USA Baseball’s 13U/14U Athlete Development Program (ADP). Anthony Frausto USA Baseball alum, is appearing on the 15U National Team roster for the second consecutive summer after helping the 2024 15U squad tally an undefeated record in an International Friendship Series with Australia. He is joined by 2022 12U teammates Colin Anderson, Tristin Gaines, Mateo Mier, and Trent O’Malley, who helped Team USA win gold at the WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup.

In addition to the six alumni on the roster, 11 total players have experience participating in USA Baseball’s 13U/14U ADP, which is a program centralized around the development of amateur athletes on and off of the field. Anderson, Frausto, Noah Jarolimek, and Nateo Victorio all made the trip to Cary in 2023. Last year’s ADP saw Anderson, Greyson Bell, Yariel Diaz, Frausto, Gaines, Jason Marll Jr., Mier, Nolyn Nickels, and O’Malley thrive at the event.

AT THE HELM

The 15U National Team is led in 2025 by Casey Scott,who is set to make his managerial debut with USA Baseball at the Pan American Championship. Scott brings a veteran presence to the dugout and has served each of the prior two years on the 15U staff. Last summer, he served as pitching coach for the 15U National Team in an International Friendship Series against Australia. His pitching staff held opponents to a .073 batting while also notching a 0.00 ERA and two no-hitters. He is joined on staff by 2022 15U gold medalists Drew Briese and Steve Butler, along with former minor leaguer in the Athletics’ organization JD Pruitt.
